Lauren Garder
Lauren Garder is a Licensed Professional Counselor at the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. In her role as the Manager of Hope and Resilience, Lauren oversees and supports systems across the state in reducing the impact of trauma across the lifespan. Prior to this, Lauren worked with victims of crime including survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, sexual assault, and stalking in both Oklahoma and Colorado. Lauren has also worked with justice involved individuals to reduce the impact of crime on the community and people who intersect with the criminal justice system. Garder serves on the Oklahoma Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board and is a recipient of the NextGen Under 30 Award.
Allyson Carson
In 2012, Allyson Carson became the director of membership for Leadership Oklahoma (LOK). In this role, she provides member engagement opportunities offering educational experiences while fostering relationships between the members to include the planning and implementation of all membership events and activities, special events and educational forums for the organization. She provides oversight for the LOK website content, promotes member retention and is responsible for the development, coordination and production of the annual report & directory. Other duties include assisting with the adult class program and various committees related to the membership. Prior to LOK, Allyson served as the victim services coordinator for the Office of the Attorney General for over 17 years where she developed, implemented and coordinated multiple statewide programs from the ground up including Victim Information & Notification Everyday (VINE) and VINE VPO. Responsibilities included providing emotional support to victims’ family members, appellate notification and assisting citizens regarding victim issues. She coordinated the first Oklahoma Victim Assistance Academy in 2009 and established the first multidisciplinary domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking conference for law enforcement, prosecutors and judges. She attended Oklahoma State University receiving a BS in Family Relations & Child Development. Allyson has sat on numerous committees, task forces and boards in the victim services field currently serving on the Oklahoma Victims Compensation Board which provides financial support to victims of crime across the state, as a board member for the CARE Center and the acolyte coordinator at Yukon First Methodist Church. She is a graduate of Leadership Canadian County and Leadership Oklahoma Class XXIII. She received a Governor’s Commendation for service to victims of crime, named “Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year” by Women in Law Enforcement, The Journal Record’s “40 Under 40” and Oklahoma Magazine’s “Achievers Under 40”. She is married, and together, she and her husband have four children, two sons-in-law and six grandchildren.
